Vione Erickson

Vione "Vi" Erickson, 82, formerly of Wyndmere, ND died on Saturday December 15, 2012 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 1:30 PM at Wyndmere Lutheran Church, Wyndmere, ND, with Rev. Bob Caranicas officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5 PM to 8 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Service at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service at the church.

Vione Wittkopp was born on July 7, 1930, in Antelope Township of Richland County to William and Ella (Simdorn) Wittkopp. She lived on farms in the Wyndmere and Barney, ND areas and attended various country schools. She graduated from Wyndmere High School in 1946. She then attended North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton, ND and received her certificate in 1948. "Vi" worked in bookkeeping and secretarial positions throughout her life. She was united in marriage to Keith McCormack on October 18, 1949. They made their home in Barney, ND where they raised three daughters. She was widowed on February 10, 1972 and moved to Wyndmere, ND.

Vi was fortunate enough to fall in love a second time and on January 25, 1974 was married to Kenneth Erickson. She served 40 years in the American Legion Auxiliary. In her free time she enjoyed camping, dancing and listening to her favorite music. In her later years she was known for her lefse and could often be found enjoying time with her family and doing puzzles with her beloved grandchildren.

Vi is survived by her three daughters; Lori (Gordy) Habel, Fargo, ND, Wanda McCormack and Jill (Jon) Skillings, Wyndmere, ND; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one sister, Doris (Bill) Singelman, Park Rapids, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ella Wittkopp, her husbands, Keith McCormack (February 10, 1972) and Kenneth Erickson(May 12, 2003), a brother Don Wittkopp and her sisters, Lorene Costello, Evey Shurkey and Marcy Gilbertson.
