Vincent Howard Humble

Vincent Humble, 80, of Fairmount, North Dakota, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, at the Leach Home in Wahpeton, ND.  His Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fairmount, ND.  There will be a visitation one hour prior, with the recitation of the Rosary at 9:45 a.m.  Burial will take place at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Fairmount, ND.  Msgr. Brian Donahue will officiate.

Vincent Howard Humble was born on 1/22/1943 to Howard and Frances (Mitzel) Humble in Cando, ND. Vincent grew up in rural Cando, ND where he graduated from high school. After graduation, Vincent joined the Navy.  He served in the Navy in Boston, MA.  He was a proud veteran of the United States of America.

After returning from the Navy, he married Twila in June of 1967. They had 3 children.  The family moved to Wahpeton, ND in 1974 where Vincent went to NDSSS and earned a degree in Welding.  He then went on to work for WilRich for many years.  The family moved to Fairmount, ND in 1982. In 1994, Vincent and Twila moved to Gettysburg, SD to work on a ranch.  Vincent returned to Fairmount, ND in 1999 where he lived until moving to the Leach Home in 2021.

Vincent was active in the Fairmount American Legion Post 106. He held various positions for the Legion, including commander.  He loved to make soup and his famous chocolate cake for the meetings. He was also the bingo caller for many years. He enjoyed assisting in their monthly Sunday community breakfasts.

Vincent had a kind and generous heart, helping out wherever he could. He loved to bake.  Especially his chocolate cake and banana bread.  His favorite part of baking was sharing it with everyone. Delivering banana bread to his friends and family brought him great joy. Throughout Christmas time, he loved to bake and deliver plates of goodies to everyone he could.

Vincent loved living at the Leach Home.  The staff and residents quickly became like family to him. He enjoyed the many activities there and loved calling his kids asking, “Did you see me on Facebook again?” Before meals, he loved to sit and visit with his friends.

Vincent is survived by his son, Shawn (Heather) Humble, Glendive, MT; daughter, Tami (Paul) Even, Lidgerwood, ND; grandson, Zachary Even; siblings, Margaret Schmidt, Lois Meyer, and Vernon Humble; along with many nieces and nephews.

Vincent is preceded in death by his son, Patrick Humble; his parents, Howard and Frances Humble; and a sister, Darlene Adamsen.
