Veronica "Vonnie" Halverson

Veronica "Vonnie" Halverson, 80, of Wahpeton, ND, passed on Saturday, May 27, 2023. Her visitation and prayer service will be held at St. John's Church, Wahpeton, ND, on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 5-7p.m., with prayer service starting at 7p.m.  Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John's Church on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 11 a.m.  There will be visitation one hour prior, along with the recitation of the rosary beginning at 10 a.m.  Father Dale Lagodinski will officiate.

Vonnie was born on April 25, 1943, in Geneseo, ND to Christina (Satyla) and John Kaczynski. On October 8, 1977, she was married to Lonnie L. Halverson. Vonnie held numerous nursing positions over her lifetime and had a strong devotion to patient care and compassion, working the night shift for many years so as to have more uninterrupted time with those she was entrusted. After retiring from nursing, she continued to volunteer within the community spending much of her time at St. John’s Catholic Church and School, helping with funerals, teaching religious ed, and working at the welcome desk, amongst other tasks.

Vonnie passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Sanford Hospital on Broadway in Fargo, ND, in the company of her daughter, Kristin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie; her step-son, Jay; sister, Rosemary Conzemius; brothers, Peter and Michael Kaczynski; and her parents, Christina and John Kaczynski.
