Verna Stahl

Verna Stahl, 88, Breckenridge, MN, formerly Wahpeton, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at Pioneer Cottages, Breckenridge, MN. A Funeral Service will be Friday, March 8, 2:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. There will be visitation and sharing with the family one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in Montana. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND, is in charge of arrangements.

Verna was born July 25, 1924 at Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Lars and Mary (Bishop) Holey. Verna attended school at Petersburg, NE. She worked at St. Edward's Hospital in Genoa, NE. In 1945 she married James A. Stahl in Albion, NE and later lived in Oakdale and Stanton, Ne, before moving to near Fergus Falls, MN where they farmed. They moved to Montana, where her husband passed away on July 19, 1969. She returned to the area and lived in Elbow Lake, MN and Fergus Falls, MN before living in Wahpeton with her mother for several years. She entered the Pioneer Cottages, Breckenridge, in 2008.

Verna is survived by her brother, Robert (Kathy) Holey, Milwaukee, WI; four sisters: Margaret Stahl, Fergus Falls, MN; Anna (Art) Fjestad, Fergus Falls, MN; Dorothy Loken, Wadena, MN; Mary (Vernon) Ingbretson, Libby, MT; Nancy Hagen, Breckenridge, MN; grandchildren, Barb, James, Joe, and David, great grandchildren and several nephews, nieces and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, her daughter Barbara Stahl, and her son, James L. Stahl,
