Velma Woodbury, 94, Breckenridge, MN and formerly Barney, ND died on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. Funeral services will be on Monday, February 27 at Evergreen United Methodist Church, Wahpeton, ND at 2:00 P.M with Rev. Jenny Hallenbeck officiating. Visitation will be at the Vertin-Munson Wahpeton Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00-7:00 P.M and also at the church Monday from 1:00-2:00 P.M. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Velma Woodrow Woodbury was born near Flasher, ND on March 8, 1917 the daughter of Albert and Lydia (Strayer) Bahr. She attended school in Flasher. On October 7, 1941 Velma married Ardy Woodbury in Dwight, ND. The couple made their home at their farm near Barney. Ardy died on November 28, 1998, and Velma then moved into Wahpeton. She had recently entered St. Francis Nursing Home, Breckenridge, MN.
Velma was a former member of the Antelope United Methodist Church, Barney, ND, current member of the Evergreen United Methodist Church in Wahpeton and also the Wahpeton Eagles. She enjoyed Bible Study, gardening, canning, baking and embroidery. She always treasured her time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Woodbury and Roland (Fran) Woodbury, Fargo, ND and her daughters, Denise Rogers, Fargo, ND and Sharon (Duren) Moffet, Kerrville, TX, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a brother Leslie Bahr, Breckenridge, MN and two sisters, Lura Johnson and Ellen (Butch) Dinger both of Wahpeton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, nine brothers; George, Hubert, Clifford, Floyd, Charles, Dean, Donald, Darwin and Julius, a sister Neva VanDuyn and a daughter-in-law, Joann Woodbury.
