Ursella Freitag

Ursella C. Freitag, 77, Wahpeton, ND, died Thursday, March 26, 2009, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge , MN . The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, 2:00 PM at Evergreen United Methodist Church , Wahpeton, with Rev. Paul Baker officiating. Visitation will be Monday, from 5 PM to 8 PM with a 7 PM prayer service at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens , Wahpeton.

Ursella was born March 15, 1932, the daughter of John and Cora (Thorstenson) Paulson, near Clinton , in Big Stone County , Minnesota . She attended rural schools and graduated from Ortonville High School . She was united in marriage to Robert C. Freitag on October 7, 1951 at United Methodist Church in Ortonville , MN . They moved to Breckenridge , MN , and then to Wahpeton, ND, where they raised their seven children. She was active in their children’s activities, including Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. Robert died November 13, 1996, and Ursella continued to live in Wahpeton.

Ursella was an active member of Evergreen United Methodist Church and helped start a sewing circle with the church women as well as helping with the Meals on Wheels. She was a member and active in the Eagles Auxiliary and the Richland County Museum . She enjoyed sewing, making rugs and quilts for family and friends. Her pride of her life were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed getting together with her special friends for card parties and tried to win their nickels.

Ursella is survived by her two sons, five daughters and fifteen grandchildren: David (Louann) Freitag, and their daughter, Angel (Troy) Koltes, Breckenridge, MN; Debbie (Gary) Burhans, and their children, Heidi and Doug Burhans, Doran, MN; Robbin (Mike) Christensen, and their children Andy and Sarah Christensen, Memphis, TN; Peggy (Brian) Bladow, and their children, Nate and Chad Bladow, Battle Lake, MN; Sandy (Kevin) Volk, and their children, Sam and Molly Volk, Petersburg, Alaska; Kathy (John) Kielb, and their children Kristina (Greg) Kielb-Guimont and Kimberly and Kelly Kielb, Eden Prairie, MN; Joe (Jodi) Freitag, and their children Mary, Nicholas and Jake Freitag, Hickson, ND; and nine great grandchildren; her two sisters and one brother, Mabel (Cliff) Lund, Aberdeen, WA., Edna Angerhofer, Milbank, SD, and Robert Paulson, Crivitz, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Cora Paulson, her husband, Robert C. Freitag and her brother, John Paulson .
