Shawn A. Gebro

August 10, 1971 — November 30, 2023

Shawn A. Gebro, 52, of Wahpeton, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, November 30, 2023.

Services to celebrate Shawn’s life will be held at a later date.

Shawn was born on August 10, 1971, in Breckenridge, MN, to Merle and Janet (Herberg) Gebro. He attended school in Breckenridge and then entered the workforce doing many different jobs. He began working for TRS Industries in 2006 and through his hard work, dedication, and leadership, was able move into a shop manager role early in his time with the company. Shawn took pride in his work and cared for his team.

Family was the most important thing in Shawn’s life, and he was a bit of a momma’s boy. He loved and absolutely adored his kids and liked to have family gatherings full of food, foosball, and laughs. He enjoyed grilling, his motorcycle, and would always be up for a Chinese buffet. Shawn loved listening to music and could be known to sing a sappy love song or two.

The Fourth of July was a big deal, and he could be found making extra loud and flashy fireworks himself, and more so was a special time for him, because it would bring his kids together. Shawn was regimented; he liked to keep to a plan in all he did, spending many years working out at the gym. He was strong-willed with a very big heart and would help anyone who needed help.  You could compare his caring nature to that of a stoic lion, waiting and watching above his pride to assist when needed. Those he welcomed into his world became friends for life.

Left to cherish the memory of Shawn are his children: Adara, Zacharia (Dani Neu), and Lucah Gebro; Lily Douglass; Lucah and Lily’s mom, Jennifer Douglass Gebro; his sisters: Dawn (Robin) Reese, Terri (Brett) Benedict, and Cindy (Dwayne) Emly; his brother, Kevin (Coco Trent) Gebro; his life-long friend, Ryan Heen; his godmother, Cindy Krutsinger, his four-legged best friend, Cynder; and many extended family members that meant so much to him.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, Lonnie; and the mother of his beautiful children Zach and Dara, Shannon Schaefer.

The world is better for knowing Shawn, and he will be greatly missed.
