Sally Ann Kurtz Werner, age 51, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND. Her memorial service will be on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 2 pm with visitation from Noon to 2 pm, at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton, ND. Monsignor Brian Donahue will officiate the service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rural Fairmount, ND. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home.
Sally was born on December 17, 1972, to parents Loren and Grace Ann (Reinke) Kutter. She grew up on their family farm near Hankinson, North Dakota. Growing up she was active in 4-H, earning grand champion ribbons with her ducks and craft projects. Sally was confirmed at St. Philip’s Catholic Church. She graduated from Hankinson High School in 1991.
Sally married her high school sweetheart Burt Kurtz on November 2, 1991. To this union, two children were born. Keasha (Nate Hanson) in 1993 and Colby in 1999. Her granddaughter Amara was born to Keasha and Nate in 2018. Amara was a bright light in Sally’s world.
She received a second chance at love and happiness, and on June 17, 2023, she married Darin Werner. They made their home in rural Breckenridge, MN. Sally was the happiest when she was able to spend time with Darin, going for drives, going out for supper, and spending time outdoors.
She held various jobs throughout her life, most recently at Quanex Custom Components in Wahpeton. But her favorite titles were wife, mother, and grandmother. Sally loved her family fiercely. She enjoyed hosting and cooking for special occasions and spending time with family and friends. She was such a kind, loving person and always saw the good side of people. She had wonderful decorating skills and loved to make the house feel like home. She had the ability to make everyone feel welcome. Sally could light up a room with her stories and fun-loving nature.
She is survived by her husband, Darin; her daughter, Keasha Ann; her son, Colby; granddaughter, Amara Ann; several brothers and sisters-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Loren Kutter; her mother, Grace Ann (Reinke) Kutter; her first husband, Burt Kurtz; brother-in-law, Richard Kurtz; niece, Aurora Kurtz; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
