Ruth A. Versdahl, 86, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010, at St. Catherine’s Living Center, Wahpeton, ND. The Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2010 at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church , Wahpeton, with Pastor Dragos Profir, officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 3 PM to 5 PM, with a 4 PM prayer service at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton and one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be at Freeman Cemetery , rural McLeod , ND . Vertin-Munson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth was born October 7, 1923, at Finley , ND , the daughter of Helmer and Martha (Johnson) Lokken. She was united in marriage to Alvin (Swede) Versdahl, and the couple had two sons, Dennis and Hans; they lived in Breckenridge , MN . Ruth worked at St. Francis Hospital , Breckenridge, and later Wahpeton Healthcare Center . Alvin passed away on December 30, 1969. Ruth later married Oscar Versdahl, and the couple lived and farmed in Freeman Township , near McLeod , ND . They moved into Wahpeton in their retirement in 1996 and moved to the Leach Home in 2006 and they entered St. Catherine’s Living Center in 2009.

Ruth enjoyed family gatherings and her children and grandchildren. She made table favors for nursing homes and Veterans Home in Lisbon .

Ruth is survived by her husband, Oscar, Wahpeton; grandchildren: Dennis Versdahl II, Breckenridge, MN; Barry Versdahl, Redding, CA; her step - granddaughter, Marsha Freyholtz, Hutchinson, MN and two step great grandsons Cody and Cole Freyholtz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Alvin, her two sons, Dennis and Hans, her sister, Esther Wedberg, and her brother, Morris Lokken.
