Ross Matejcek

Ross Matejcek, 53, rural Blanchard, ND passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at his residence. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, June 12, at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Fairmount, ND with Rev. Scott Sautner officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer vigil at 7 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Fairmount, ND. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Ross Steven Matejcek was born April 28, 1962 in Breckenridge, MN, the son of Raymond and Doris (Schutt) Matejcek. He grew up near Fairmount, ND, where he attended school; graduating from Fairmount High School in 1980. Ross joined the North Dakota National Guard and enrolled at NDSSS in Diesel Mechanics, obtaining his associate degree. He worked for Western Geophysical in Texas and married Jane Bernard on June 8, 1985, in Hankinson, ND. The couple moved to Wyoming in 1986 and in 1988 they moved to Mayville where he worked for John Deere. In 1992 they moved to Hunter, ND, Ross operated Matejcek Mechanics. In 2006 he started employment with Fargo Freightliner while living in rural Blanchard, ND. he worked in Fargo and Grand Forks.

Ross was a member of First Responders and the Fire Department when living in Hunter. He enjoyed working on and riding motorcycles, deer hunting golfing and was interested in flying. He played chess and video games with his daughters.

Ross is survived by his three daughters: Ariel, Sabrina and Kiana, all of Hunter, ND; his mother, Doris, Fairmount, ND; a sister and two brothers, Mona (Mike) Liane, Devils Lake, ND; Joe Matejcek and Tim (Lynnette) Matejcek, Fairmount; and special friend, Bonnie Fisher, Blanchard, ND; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Matejcek.
