Rosemary Samuelson

Rosemary A. Samuelson, age 91, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025, at St. Francis Nursing Home in Breckenridge, MN. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 5 pm to 7 pm, with a prayer service at 7 pm, at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton, ND. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 11 am, with visitation one hour before at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Breckenridge. Fr. Leo Moenkedick will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date.

Rosemary was born May 21, 1933, to Charles and Mary (Wanek) Lawrence. She grew up on a farm 2 miles north of Wahpeton. She attended Dwight #1 School and later Wahpeton High School, graduating in 1951.

She helped with the farm work until she married John P. Samuelson on May 28, 1952, at St. Adalbert's Church in Wahpeton by Rev. Father Eckhart.

She enjoyed gardening, fishing, cards, puzzles, crafts, and baking with donuts and pies being her specialty. She treasured her grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren. They brought her so much joy. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to her friends and loved ones.

She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Breckenridge, Catholic Order of Foresters Council, and Christian Mothers.

Rosemary is survived by her son, Monte (Dawn) of Underwood, MN; daughter-in-law, Ann, Breckenridge, MN; 4 grandchildren, Jeannette, Phillip (Rachel), Matthew (Jessica), and Katie; and 4 great-grandchildren, Jayden, Callum, Maren, and Maisy.

She is preceded by John, her husband; daughter, Mavis; son, Millard; her parents and parents-in-law; sister, Lucille (Petrak); and 6 brothers: George, Clarence, Alfred, Charlie, and Lewis.

We are beyond grateful for the years and memories we have had with Rose. We will miss her. Blessed be the memory of Rose Samuelson.
