Rose Moore, 83, Breckenridge, MN, formerly Doran, MN, passed away at her residence Thursday, July 24, 2014. The Funeral Service will be Monday, 11:00 a.m., at Doran Presbyterian Church, Doran, MN. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 PM to 6 PM with a 6 PM Prayer Service at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be at a later date at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home.
Rose Meyer was born on November 28, 1930 at Cass Lake, MN, to Clara L. and Joseph K. Meyer. At a young age she moved with her family to Wahpeton, ND. She attended elementary school at St. John's Catholic School and graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1948. On October 27, 1950 she was united in marriage to Hugh Moore of Doran, MN, at St. John's Catholic Church. They resided on a farm southeast of Doran for 23 years. In 1973, Rose and Hugh moved into a home in Doran. Hugh passed away July 21, 1999, Rose continued living in Doran and recently moved to Twin Town Villas, Breckenridge, MN.
Rose worked for St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge, in dietary department for several years as well as working for Red River Human Services, Primewood and Breckenridge Group Homes. She served as Doran City Treasurer for 30 years, election judge and was a life member of the Breckenridge VFW auxiliary. Rose was an avid card player and enjoyed playing at the Wahpeton Senior Citizens Center. She especially enjoyed pinochle, scrabble and other board games. She always looked forward to her weekend visits with her children and grandchildren.
Rose is survived by four daughters: Marilyn (Jeff) Fifield, Duluth, MN; Nancy Moore, St. Paul, MN; Barbara (Gary) Schroth, Shoreview, MN; Joanne (Dean) Forbord, Coon Rapids, MN; eight grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a sister, Alice Pausch, Breckenridge, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hugh, an infant daughter, Catherine Marie, siblings: Emma Wolfe and Joseph Meyer (who passed away in the Korean Conflict).
