Roger Stallman, 78, Barney, ND, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at CHI-St. Francis Health in Breckenridge, MN. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 6, at 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Wyndmere, ND with Rev. Tom Feltman officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 5 PM to 7 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Vigil at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Wyndmere. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Catherine's Living Center. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.
Roger was born on December 9, 1937 in Breckenridge, MN to Joseph and Louise (Klosterman) Stallman. He grew up on the family farm west of Mooreton, ND until graduating from Wyndmere High School in 1956. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958 and served in Ft Hood, TX. After his discharge he attended NDSCS, graduating with an agriculture certificate in 1958.
Roger was united in marriage to Marilyn Poss at St. John's Catholic Church in Wyndmere on December 29, 1959. Roger served on the St. John's Cemetery Board, and as Barney Township officer, but was most proud of his work with Southeast Water Users, which established and maintains water services for Southeast North Dakota.
In his later years, he was known for his sweet talents in the kitchen including homemade fudge and nut goody bars. He was a man who was willing at any time to help when it was needed and if it needed to be built he could build it. The greatest times in his life were spent with his family, especially camping at Big Pine Lake, near Perham, MN.
Roger will be missed by his wife of 56 years, Marilyn, Barney, ND; his children, Greg (Brenda) Stallman, Hillsboro, ND, Cheryl (Mike) Wigginton, West Fargo, ND, Jolene (Jeff) Hermanson, Grafton, ND, Matt (Jacque) Stallman, Denver, CO; his grandchildren, Brady and Jace Stallman, Kyle and Sam Wigginton, Kole and Kory Hermanson, Joslyn and Jordan Stallman; his sisters-in-law, Lois Stallman, Fargo, ND, Arlene Stallman, Wooddale, IL, Rena Stallman, Mooreton, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Louise Stallman, his brothers, Tom, Dan, Dave, and Verne Stallman.
