Robert A. Marshall, 86, Breckenridge, MN, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. The Funeral will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 17, at St. Johna�(TM)s Catholic Church, Wahpeton, with visitation with the family one hour before the service. Interment will be at St. Marya�(TM)s Cemetery, Breckenridge, MN. Arrangements are entrusted with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Robert was born July 28, 1924 at Breckenridge, MN. He grew up with his parents, Al and Loretta (Miksche) Polipnick in Breckenridge and attended local schools graduating from Breckenridge High School. He attended college at Moorhead State and the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis before he served in the US Marines. He attended MIT, Cambridge, MA where he participated in tennis and obtained his undergraduate and graduate degrees as an engineer. He was employed at Rawls Engineering in Lima, OH, where he married Natalie Thomas; to this union two children were born, Teri and Robert. He later worked as a manager for Consolidated American Machinery of Florida, where he married Patty Evans, they had a son Robert. He moved to California where he worked for Aerojet-General and several years for Lockheed Aircraft Corporation, as a mechanical engineer research scientist. He married Mary Cotton in 1977 in California and they moved to Breckenridge, MN in 1980 where they have continued to live and where Mary has stayed active with her music.

Robert was once an accomplished oil painter in California and had showings with LeRoy Neiman and others. He wrote poetry and was always interested in people and area history.

Robert is survived by his wife, Mary, Breckenridge, MN; Robertsa�(TM)s daughter, Terri Lyn Holloway, Deerfield Beach, FL; and his son, Robert Marshall II, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Robert Marshall Jr. one brother, Frank Anthony (deceased) Windsor, Massachusetts, Dennis Polipnick (deceased) Breckenridge, and one sister Phyllis Polipnick Henry, Santa Ana, California. and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
