Raymond Erbes, 90, Breckenridge, MN, formerly of Colfax, ND, died Wednesday morning, March 12, 2008, at St. Francis Healthcare Center-Home, Breckenridge, surrounded by his family, under the care of Riveredge Hospice. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 15 at St. Anthony?s Catholic Church, Mooreton, ND with Rev. Peter Anderl as celebrant. Visitation will be held Friday, March 14, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all at St. Anthony?s Catholic Church, Mooreton; also, visitation Saturday at the church one hour prior to time of service. Interment will be held at St. Anthony?s Catholic Cemetery, Mooreton.
Raymond Henry Erbes was born August 7, 1917, at Hartley, Iowa, to William J. and Christina (Kepper) Erbes. In 1926 he moved with his family to a farm north of Barney, ND where he attended Antelope school. He later moved with his family to a farm near Galchutt, ND where he farmed. On February 10, 1947, he married Marie Osterloth in Seattle, WA. The couple lived and raised their family of 3 children on their farm near Galchutt.
Ray was a member of St. Anthony?s Catholic Church; enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking; and spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marie, Breckenridge; his daughter and his 2 sons and their children, Connie (Earl) Roquet, Wahpeton, ND, their children, Nathan, Wahpeton, Noel (Michelle) Roquet, Dickinson, ND; Tom (Faye) Erbes, Fargo, ND, their children, Brad (Sarah) Erbes, Burnsville, MN, Shantell (Paul) Sadowski, Cedarberg, WI; Lonnie (Rhonda) Erbes, Colfax, ND, their children, Dustin, Brianne, and Jacob; 11 great-grandchildren, Brooke, Bailey, Jersey, Carson, and Kennedy Roquet, William, Lucy, and Tate Erbes, Katie, Emma, and Maggie Sadowski.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his 2 sisters, Hannah Haurum and Evelyn Grosch; and his 2 brothers, George and Ray?s twin brother, Francis.
