Randy was born in Fargo, ND on September 5, 1970 to Eugene and Margie (Westra) Gerdon. He grew up in rural Cogswell, ND and attended school at Sargent Central Schools and graduated from Oakes High School in 1989. Randy started his career with 3M/Imation/ComDel in 1990 and worked with them until 2011. During that time, he also attended NDSCS and received his associates degree in 2004. After ComDel, Randy began working for Bobcat and was currently a supervisor in Bobcat's Wahpeton facility.
Randy jumped out of his orderly life into an instant family of three boys by marrying Sara Trageton on September 18, 2004 in Wahpeton. He took it in stride and they added a daughter, Addison to keep the boys in line. His priorities in life were family first, and after that, his motorcycle and Nebraska Cornhusker football. He loved to tell stories, have fun and tried to make people feel included in that fun lifestyle. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, riding motorcycle, college football, Halloween, camping, and last but not least being at Sunset Beach on West Battle Lake with his "Lake family". He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Go Big Red!
Randy is survived by his wife, Sara, Wahpeton, ND; his children, Nick, Wahpeton, Jacob, Ft. Hood, TX, and Matt and Addison at home; his mother, Margie Roney, Oakes, ND; his brother, David (Sara) Gerdon, Fargo, ND; his sisters, Brenda Dye, Breckenridge, MN and her son Sean, and Kathy (Scott) Adams, Abercrombie, ND and their daughters, Morgan and Bailey; and his step-mother, Linda Humphrey.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Gerdon, his step-father, Jim Roney, and his father and mother-in-law, Oliver and Susan Trageton.
