Randall Boatright was born on July 23, 1954 to Benny and Mildred (Laub) Boatright in Jamestown, ND. He grew up and attended school in Jamestown. Randy was a part of the North Dakota Boys State. While in Jamestown, he began working as a heavy equipment operator for Everett's Construction. Randy later began college at the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton where he and his wife were Resident Directors in the men's dorms on campus for 5 years. Randy graduated from NDSCS with two different Associates Degrees. After graduation he was employed by NDSCS as a journeyman plumber and also worked at Valley Lake Boys Home, both for more than 20 years. Randy was a hard working, caring man, who also enjoyed working for Red River Human Services. Randy was a very proud veteran. He began serving in the Army in 1973 and later joined the National Guard, serving his country for a total of 26 years.
In 1972, Randy met the love of his life, Cynthia Anderson. The couple got married on August 2, 1980. After their marriage, they moved to Wahpeton where they raised their three sons.
Randy was a guy with a huge personality that everyone loved being around; you will never meet a person who didn't like "Boat." He enjoyed the company of all people, and would visit with anyone who had the time to talk. He was the kind of guy who would give kids $20 for a cup of lemonade at their lemonade stand. Randy loved his dogs, Reckless and Jack, and almost daily he would take them out for their run and stop to get an ice cream cone after. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed following them around to their various activities. But, some of Randy's favorite times were spent at the lake camping and fishing with his family.
Randy is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his three sons, Benjamin (Anita) Boatright, Adam (Katie Livingston) Boatright, and Dustin (Hayley Haugen) Boatright; his three granddaughters, Lexi, Bri, and Elly; his mother, Millie Boatright; his sisters, Val Boatright and Lynn (Galen) Anderson; and his brothers-in-law, Andy Anderson, Todd Mehlhoff, and Justin Mehlhoff.
He was preceded in death by his father, Benny, and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
