Phyllis Lee

Phyllis was born March 21, 1918 on a farm near Abercrombie, ND to Ole and Grace (Larson) Hatlie. She was united in marriage to Arthur Lee on September 3, 1938 on a Labor Day weekend while Art was at Dakota Business College and she was working at Hanoek's Fur Store in Fargo, ND. Art passed away at 58 years of age in 1975. Phyllis was briefly married to Leslie Leason in Mesa, AZ until his death.

One of Phyllis' joys was working retail, first at Farlow's Ladies Ready-to-Wear and later opening her own Scandinavian shop, Prairie Galleries in Wahpeton, ND. After Art's death, Phyllis moved to Fargo, ND and ran the Nordic Butikk with partner Daryl "Ole" Olson and worked into her 80's at the Hjemkomst Heritage Gift Shop in Moorhead, MN.

Extremely proud of her Norwegian heritage Phyllis made many trips to Norway and was an active member of the Sons of Norway in Fargo. Art and Phyllis were members of Bethel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton for over 30 years. In later years, Phyllis joined Faith Lutheran in West Fargo, First Lutheran in Fargo, and lastly First Lutheran in New Rockford.

Phyllis is survived by a son, Levert (Margaret) Lee, Strasburg, CO; a daughter, Anise (Donald) Lee-Dahlquist, New Rockford; a daughter-in-law, Judy Lee, West Fargo; her grandsons, Eric (Kelli) Borgen, Boise, ID, Jon (Billie Jean) Lee, Plano, TX, Derek Lee, Strasburg, CO; her granddaughters, Sonya (Bob) Borgen, New Rockford, ND, Sonja Dahlquist, St. Paul, MN, Maren (Joseph) Matal, Bethesda, MD, Melany (Robb) Wolcott, Denver, CO; her great-grandchildren, Sarah Borgen, Manhattan Peters, Linnea Dahlquist, Sophia Borgen, Austin Lee, Winter Lee, Jocelyn Wolcott, Taryn Wolcott, Owen Wolcott, John Matal, Elizabeth Matal, and Margaret Matal; her great-great granddaughter, Lillian Anise Peters.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Arthur Lee and Leslie Leason, and her oldest son, Duane Lee.
