Paulette was born on April 2, 1950 in Breckenridge, MN to Rodney and Doris (Martin) Burhans. She grew up and attended school in Doran, MN and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1968. She was united in marriage to Edmund Pauly in 1969.  To this union a daughter, Teresa, was born.  She was united in marriage to Kelvin Hoeft on February 12, 1972.  To this union a daughter, Jacqueline, and a son, Timothy, were born.

They lived in Great Bend, ND, and had a lake home on Walker Lake. She was the receptionist for Sturdevant’s Auto Parts for 32-1/2 years and then managed the Vets Club in Wahpeton for 3 years. She bartended in a number of establishments over the years as well. She held the role of the Auditor for the City of Great Bend for many, many years.  She also helped Kelvin with his business, The Country Butcher, for many years while she worked at Sturdevant’s.

Paulette enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens; her green thumb was evident everywhere she went.  She had gardens at the house in Great Bend and out at the lake cabin.  You never knew what new creations you would find when you went to visit.  She collected rocks from around the US and even had some from Hawaii.  She always had Kelvin busy landscaping.  Paulette also enjoyed spending time out at the lake, going on pontoon rides, taking the paddleboat out, fishing, and in the winter, cross country skiing.  She loved the time she spent attending her grandchildren's activities.  She also looked forward to the yearly fall deer hunting expedition and Cancun weekend at Pam’s house. She enjoyed riding in the support crew vehicle for their trips to Sturgis; and enjoyed going to Western Machining where she loved working on the ground crew for many projects.

She adored her trusty companion Buddy.  She had an obsession with Dalmatians and Betty Boop, which was evidenced inside and outside her home.  Her Dalmatian collection is massive and includes everything from life size concrete statues, pictures on the walls to figurines.

Everyone who knew Paulette loved her.  She enjoyed socializing and there always seemed to be a lot of people around her.  In 2012, at Kelvin and Paulette’s 40th Anniversary Party, it was evident by how many friends and family showed up to celebrate with them.  She had a great love of music and loved to dance.

Paulette is survived by her husband Kelvin of Wahpeton, ND; her children, Teresa (Blaine) Basehore, Wahpeton, ND, Jackie (Patrick) Hoeft and her daughter Jalyn, Wahpeton, ND, Tim (Ivory) Hoeft and their children, Ashton, Lexi and Autumn, Wahpeton, ND; her mother, Doris Burhans, Breckenridge, MN; her sisters Pam (Brian) Ellingson, Leeds, ND, Lori (Rick) Bladow, on Deer Lake in MN; her brothers, Mark Burhans, Springfield, OR, Don (Carmen) Burhans, Breckenridge, MN; and many, many nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by many in-laws, LaVon Otto, Crystal, ND, Janice Walters, Campbell, MN, Mary Jane Pauly, David (Katie) Pauly, Brad (Kim) Pauly, Kellan (Sue) Pauly, Monica (Gary) Onchuck, Maureen (LeRoy) Rinnels, all of Wahpeton, ND, Wayne (Debbie) Pauly, Weatherford, TX and Kathy (Roger) Brenna, New Town, ND and all their children.
