Patricia Olson, 81, Wahpeton, ND, died Monday, November 29, 2010, at her home under the care of Riveredge Hospice. The Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 3, at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Dale Lagodinski as Celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5 PM to 8 PM with Foresters and Christian Mothers Rosary at 4 PM and a 7 PM Prayer Vigil, all at St. John's Catholic Church, and one hour before the service on Friday. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, is in charge of arrangements.
Pat was born March 16, 1929, at Breckenridge, MN, the daughter of LeRoy and Rufina (Dreyer) Stephens. She grew up in Breckenridge, graduated from Breckenridge High School, and attended Nursing School at St. John's School of Nursing in Fargo. She was united in marriage to John "Jack" R. Olson on October 9, 1950, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Breckenridge. The family resided in Wahpeton, where Pat worked at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge for several years until she became a full time homemaker caring for and nurturing their eight children.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and was the church organist for many years, as well as being a member of the Foresters, Christian Mothers and Eagles Auxiliary. She loved music, especially playing the piano and organ. She enjoyed traveling with Jack, dancing, and took great pride in working on her landscaping at her home. Her attentiveness to her family for remembering special dates and occasions will be long remembered by children and grandchildren.
Pat is survived by her husband Jack, Wahpeton; her eight children: Stephen (Diane) Olson, Harwood, ND; Edward (Sandra) Olson, Wahpeton; Jerry Olson, Fargo; Scott (Hanneke) Olson, Santa Clarita, CA; Nancy (Kevin) Donnay, Baxter, MN; John (Jane) Olson, West Fargo, ND; Susan (Dan) Ellingson, Breckenridge; Mark (Bonnie) Olson, Hobart, IN; 19 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, her brother, John (Polly) Stephens, Alexandria, MN; and her brother-in-law, Harold Heley, Fargo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sharon Heley, her twin sisters, Mary and Ann, and her granddaughter Karen Olson.
