. The funeral mass will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 2, 2008 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Dale Lagodinski as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.

Palmer J. Skorheim was born March 7, 1921, the son of Edgar and Paula (Kleppe) Skorheim in
Sioux Falls
,
SD.
He graduated from
Breckenridge
High School
and joined the US Navy January 10, 1940. He was a Chief Yeoman serving on the USS West Virginia; USS Henderson; and USS Hornet. He was on the Admirals Staff at Pearl Harbor,
Ford Island
,
Hawaii
. Palmer was recalled to service for the Korean War in 1950 and served as instructor at
Service
School
at
Bainbridge
,
MD.
He was employed by the Great Northern Railroad from 1947 to 1982. He married Patricia Murack August 25, 1950 at
St. John’s
Catholic Church, Wahpeton and the couple resided in Wahpeton. Pat passed away July 10, 2001 and Palmer continued to reside in Wahpeton until recently moving to the Twin Cities to be close to family.
Palmer was a member of
St. John’s
Catholic Church, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and dabbled in art projects. Palmer was very giving, had a subtle sense of humor and was always good company.
Palmer is survived by his two brothers: Ernest Skorheim,
Sacramento
,
CA
; and Adrian Skorheim, St. Louis Park, MN; ten Skorheim nieces and nephews; Lana, Karen, Peter, Donovan, Gerald, Allan, Paul, Marilyn, Amy and Craig.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Paula Skorheim, his wife Patricia, his brother, Francis, and sister, Myrtle Seck.
