Norma Gutzmer

Norma Gutzmer, 92, Barney, ND, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018, at CHI St. Francis Health.  Visitation will be Wednesday, September 26, from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 pm at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton with Rev. Sean Daenzer officiating.  Burial will take place at Fairview Memorial Gardens.  Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Norma June Biegert was born on June 16, 1926, to Ernest and Charlotte (Ehlers) Biegert in Wahpeton, ND.  She grew up on the family farm near Barney, ND. After graduating from Wahpeton High School, Norma worked at the courthouse in Wahpeton for many years.  Norma lived in Barney where she owned and operated the grocery store and later worked at the Midwest Edible Bean Plant.  In 2014 Norma moved into York Manor, and in 2016 to the Leach Home in Wahpeton.

Norma is a member of Wyndmere Lutheran Church.  Her love for flowers flowed throughout her yard and greenhouse; sharing them with her friends for all to enjoy. She also loved the rich, delicious taste of chocolates.  One of Norma’s favorite hobbies was taking pictures of all the trick or treaters that stopped by her house on Halloween.

Norma is survived by her sister, Donna Luebke; nephews, Robert (Judy) Luebke, Dan (Carol) Luebke, and David (Ronda) Luebke; great-nieces and nephews, Christopher (Jennifer) Luebke, Jonathon (Amber) Luebke, Adam (Ilham) Luebke, Austin Luebke, Jeremiah Luebke, and Kala (Daren) Larson; and her great-great nieces and nephews, Jacob, Mya, Ava, Harper, Tessa, Abby, Jack, and Antonio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Charlotte, and a great-nephew, Joshua Luebke in 1995.
