Funeral services for Nina Rosenkranz, 97, Milbank, SD and formerly Fairmount, ND will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011 at the Fairmount United Methodist Church, Fairmount, ND at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Fern Bailey officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:00-2:00 P.M. Interment will be at the Fairmount Cemetery, Fairmount, ND.
Nina Evelyn Rosenkranz was born on February 15, 1914 in rural Hankinson, ND and was the daughter of Arthur C. and Evelyn Mourer Petterson. After graduation from Hankinson High School, she attended the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton and then moved to St. Paul, MN to work at Midway Hospital.
On October 21, 1941 she married Fred H. Rosenkranz. Together they farmed in Devillo Township near Fairmount until 1972. For the next 15 years she worked as a cook for the Fairmount Schools.
Nina was a long time member of the Fairmount United Methodist Church where she served as a delegate to the Annual Conference for several years. She was also active in the Fairmount Eastern Star, serving as their Worthy Matron, and was active in the Fairmount Senior Citizens. She enjoyed cooking, baking cookies, gardening, reading, crocheting and was renown in the Fairmount area for her baked beans and home-made donuts. Her children and grandchildren were sources of great joy in her life.
She is survived by her sister, Grace Pederson, Ottertail Lake, MN; daughters-in-law Peggy Rosenkranz, Fort Collins, CO and Betsy Rosenkranz, El Reno, OK; son-in-law Larry McKee, Coeraine, MN; 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews including Mary Bray of Milbank, SD.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; her children, William Rosenkranz, Ruth McKee and Fred A. Rosenkranz; her parents; her brothers Maurice, Nils, Walter and Ralph Petterson and one sister, Marianne Wokal.
