Nancy Kiefer

Nancy Darlene (Glander) Kiefer was called to her heavenly home by our Lord Jesus on September 20, 2024, after a hard battle with ALS at the age of 80.

A lifelong resident of Wahpeton, North Dakota, Nancy was born on August 13, 1944, to Carl Frederick William Glander and his wife, Alta (Houghtaling). She was baptized into the Christian Faith on October 9, 1944, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton, making her public Confirmation of Faith on March 30, 1958. She lived her confirmation verse, “and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.” (2 Corinthians 5:15 ESV)

After graduating from Wahpeton High School in 1962, she married Thomas Kiefer on May 29, 1971, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wahpeton. Nancy and Tom made their home and had 3 children, Jason, Ryan, and Stephanie, who went on to have families of their own, blessing the grandparents with 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. They celebrated 50 years together just prior to Tom’s death on November 21, 2021.

Nancy’s dedication to the Lord Jesus was evident by her long-time service to the church as an organist, VBS worker, and youth counselor. She also served her community as a teller at Community First National Bank Wahpeton, bookkeeper at Krause Motors/Dakota Chrysler Center, and ward clerk/CNA at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, Minnesota. She was a gentle and kind soul and thoughtful giver, appreciated and loved by many. Her family was a very important part of her life bringing her tremendous joy. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, baking, and sewing, and always made time for her friends and loved ones.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Alta, brother Joseph, aunts, and uncles.

She is survived by siblings Carl “Sonny” (Diane) Glander, Betty Glander, Paul Glander, Phil (Candy) Glander; children Jason (Sharon) Kiefer, Ryan (Christina) Kiefer, Stephanie (Norman) Tupper; grandchildren Eric (Kimber) Kiefer, Noah Bianchetta, Nicole Kiefer, Keenan Kiefer, Allison Kiefer, Phoebe Tupper, Madalyn Tupper; great granddaughters Seylor Williams and Brissa Allbright; in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Nancy’s life and her receiving her Crown of Glory from Jesus will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, North Dakota, on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 10:30 AM. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Burial will take place Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND at 11 AM.
