Myrtle Heitsch

Myrtle A. Heitsch, 99, Breckenridge, MN died on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the Pioneer Cottages, Breckenridge, MN. Funeral Services will be 11am, Monday, December 20th at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. Visitation will be Sunday at the Willow Creek Chapel (920 Third Avenue North) from 4:00-7:00P.M. with a 6:00 P.M. Prayer Service. There will also be visitation at the church Monday morning from 10:00-11:00 A.M.. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Vertin-Munson Wahpeton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Myrtle Alvina Peterson was born on July 15, 1911, the daughter of Carl and Marit (Leinan) Peterson, on her family farm in Abercrombie Township, North Dakota. She attended school at District #10 Abercrombie Township. On October 15, 1929, she married Leo Kressin in Barney, ND. They farmed and also operated a grocery business, before moving to Wahpeton, ND. in 1943. To this union were born their daughters, Eileen and Vonnie. Leo died on October 11, 1965. Myrtle continued to reside in Wahpeton after his death. On September 9, 1966, Myrtle married Leslie Heitsch at Bethel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton, ND. The couple wintered in Texas, enjoyed all their travels and spending time at Big McDonald Lake, MN. Leslie died on September 9, 1993. Myrtle continued her active lifestyle; enjoying her gardening, crocheting, and baking Norwegian treats. She always looked forward to entertaining her friends and family. She moved to the Leach Home in Wahpeton in 2006 and Pioneer Cottages, Breckenridge, MN in 2007.

Myrtle was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and belonged to the Bethel Women's Church Circle.

Myrtle is survived by her two daughters, Eileen Anderson, Laguna Woods, CA; Vonnie (Jim) Hendrickson, Sun Lakes, AZ; four grandchildren; Lori (Bob) Bachmann, Rochert, MN, Mike Raftevold, Phoenix, AZ; Daniel (Cyndi) Raftevold, Bishop, CA; and Susan Raftevold, Detroit Lakes; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, three brothers: Arnold, Irwin and Floyd Peterson and sister, Mabel Brosowske
