Mildred Osborn

Mildred Osborn, 92, rural Fairmount, ND passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. A Celebration of her Life will be on Monday, November 25, at 11:00 AM at Fairmount United Methodist Church, Fairmount, ND with Pastor Mark Gronseth officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Fairmount. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Mildred was born on December 12, 1920 in LaMars Township, near Fairmount, ND to Alfred and Ruth (Haben) Fleischauer. She attended school at LaMars Township No. 2 and graduated from Fairmount High School in 1938. After graduation she worked for the Ralph Bonine and Carl Swanson families as a housekeeper.

Mildred was united in marriage to Orval Osborn at Bethany United Methodist Church on October 30, 1940. In 1946, they purchased the Bert Snyder farm where they raised their children. Orval passed away on March 23, 1975. Mildred continued to live on the farm to the present day.

Mildred was very dedicated to her faith in Jesus Christ and her church. Each morning was started with prayers and devotions. She served her church as Superintendent of Sunday School, was church secretary for 30 years, and held many offices in the UMW. She also served her community including being township treasurer for 15 years, served on election boards, and did a lot of work on the cancer and heart drives.

Mildred enjoyed bowling in her younger years, embroidering, going to the senior centers in Rosholt and Fairmount, she also spent a lot of time in her garden and canned the fruits of her labor. Her greatest love was her family which she felt blessed to have and cherished every day.

Mildred is survived by her son, Gary (Betty) Osborn, Fairmount, ND; her two daughters, Shirley Robertson, Wheaton, MN, Twila (Larry) White, Fergus Falls, MN; her five grandchildren, Lisa (Steve) Manock, Great Bend, ND, Tammy (Scott) Carle, Princeton, ME, Scott (Stacy) Osborn, Fairmount, ND, Christina (Nate) Fordham, Milwaukee, WI, Arne Robertson, Jr., Fergus Falls, MN; her 11 great-grandchildren; her four great-great grandchildren; her sister, Donna (Chris) Christensen, Wahpeton, ND; her brother-in-law, Steve Campbell, Fairmount, ND, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Orval, her brothers, Lloyd and Willis Fleischauer, her sisters, Lula Nadeau, Marilyn Campbell, Annetta Walters, her son-in-law, Arne Robertson, and a great-grandson, Cody Olsen.
