Mary C. Campbell was born September 22, 1918, the eldest of three daughters born to Edward and Kathryn (O'Keefe) Campbell. At the age of three, her mother passed away and she was raised by her maternal grandmother, Kathryn O'Keefe, in the Doran/Tenney, MN area. On October 22, 1941, she married Francis Theede at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fairmount, ND and they began a seventy-two year commitment that produced five children: Alton (Mary Kay) Theede, Kathryn (Donald) Emde, Diane Boll, Jean (Bill) Wurl, and Teresa (Kelly) Meyer. She had eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Catherine Goggin, Wahpeton, ND.
Francis and Mary farmed near Fairmount, ND until 1978. Her life's work was her family. She was an accomplished cook, baker, gardener, food preservationist, assistant farmhand, avid planter of trees, and an outstretched hand to anyone that needed one. In her eighties, she put her bowling ball into mothballs and moved on to cross-stitching. She loved to travel, some places she visited were Alaska, Mexico, England, Scotland and Ireland. She was a successful mother, without ever knowing her own. Francis and Mary were long time members of St. John's Catholic Church. She was a life member of St. Anthony's Catholic Order of Foresters in Fairmount.
She was our Mother; using her talents, she gave us roots to cling to and wings to fly; and now it is her turn.
She was preceded in death by, her parents, her husband, Francis "Frank" Theede on January 1, 2014, her daughter, Diane Boll, and her sister, Louise Zuber.
