Mary Nordick, 83, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton. The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, 11:00 a.m., at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, ND, with Rev. Chris Markman celebrant. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, have been entrusted with the services.
Augusta Mary Riddering was born July 9, 1931, the daughter of Ernest A. and Grace (Sweere) Riddering, on a farm near Butler, MN. She started her nursing career as a nurse aid at St. James Hospital in Perham, MN, moving with her two sisters to Milwaukee, WI. She lived in nurse's quarter, working at St. Anthony's Hospital for several years. She took formal nurses training at St. Joseph's in Mankato, MN, where she earned her LPN. Mary married Lyle Nordick in 1956 at Butler, MN. The couple farmed near Wahpeton, ND, where she enjoyed living on the farm and raising her two sons. Mary later moved to Madison, WI, in 1996, where she lived until her health failed and she moved to St. Catherine's Living Center in February of 2014.
Mary is survived by her son Tim (Tracy) Nordick, Wahpeton, three grandchildren: Casey Nordick, Alexandra Nordick and Michael Nordick; her three sisters, Theresa Martin, Globe, AZ, and Joanna Dulski, Perham, MN, Rita Kennedy, Madison, WI; and her brother, John Riddering, Globe,, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Rodney "Rod" Nordick, December 25, 2010, her sister, Martina Parcella and two brothers, Ted and Ben Riddering.
