Mark Hoffert, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully on January 28, 2024, in Scottsdale, Arizona, at the age of 65. A memorial service is planned for Friday, February 16, 2024, at 11:00 am, with visitation one hour prior, at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton, ND. Msgr. Brian Donahue will officiate the service, and the burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Wahpeton. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Mark was born on November 16, 1958, in Breckenridge, MN. He was the cherished son of Kenneth and Maxine (Ista) Hoffert. Mark pursued knowledge and enrolled at NDSCS, North Dakota State University and later Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. Following his passion for chiropractic care, Mark established Hoffert Chiropractic, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. For an incredible 39 years, he served his patients with compassion and dedication.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mark found his greatest joy and fulfillment in his role as a husband and father. He married the love of his life, Karen Haberman, and together, they shared a bond of love and support that was an inspiration to all. Mark was a devoted father to his son Daniel and daughter Megan, both of whom he loved and cherished dearly. His affectionate spirit and nurturing nature extended to his grandchildren, Harrison (age 7) and Maxine (age 5), who brought immeasurable happiness to his life and earned the achievement of Papa.
Outside of his work and family, Mark had a zest for life and enjoyed an array of hobbies. He was an avid boater, his happy place was Lake Powell and Ottertail Lake. Mark also enjoyed playing golf and watching all sports. Vacations were cherished times for him, creating memories that will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
Mark’s warm and welcoming presence was a source of comfort to all who knew him, and he will forever hold a special place in their hearts. He is survived by his wife, Karen Hoffert, Scottsdale, AZ; son, Daniel Hoffert, Scottsdale, AZ; daughter, Megan (Matt) Smith, Phoenix, AZ; stepmom, Shirley Hoffert; siblings, Robert (Kathy), Peggy (John) Carlson, Mike (Barb), stepbrother, Brian Belcher, stepsister, Jane Ahl; in-laws, Doug (Mary Ellen) Haberman, Dean Haberman, Doris Quam, Paul (Barb) Haberman, Yvonne (Tony) Schmit, Roger (Mary) Haberman; many nieces and nephews; and pet dog Billy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Maxine Hoffert; in-laws, Carl and Evelyn Haberman; and niece Jamie Gunderson; and brother-in-law, Bob Quam.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Carmelites Monastery in Wahpeton or Hospice of the Valley Eckstein Center in Arizona.
