Marcy Quam, 95, Breckenridge, MN, formerly rural Wyndmere, ND, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, April 27, at 1:30 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Wyndmere, ND with Rev. Len Loegering as celebrant. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer vigil at 7 PM at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at a later date at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Wyndmere. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.
Marcy was born on February 11, 1918 to Henry and Agnes (Schmidt) Duclos in Mantador, ND. She grew up in the Mantador area and graduated from Wahpeton High School. She attended Valley City State Teacher's College and received her teaching certificate. She taught in Munich, ND and Barney, ND until she was united in marriage to Clifton Quam on February 12, 1941 in Mantador.
Marcy and Clifton farmed and raised cattle on the home farm near Wyndmere, ND. Clifton passed away on September 7, 1988 and Marcy continued to live on the farm until August 28, 2007 when she moved to Twin Town Villa in Breckenridge, MN. She became a resident of St. Francis Healthcare Campus on December 16, 2010.
Marcy was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and the Ladies Guild. She also enjoyed going to the Wyndmere Senior Citizens Center. Marcy liked to play cards and bingo, and was an avid bowler until late in life. Marcy's main love was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marcy is survived by her son, Gerald (Janice) Quam, Wahpeton, ND; her daughters, Rachel Fox, Fargo, ND, Rosine Quam and Maureen (Myles) Vosberg, both of Bismarck, ND; her nine grandchildren; her nineteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifton; her sisters, Loretta Sarosiek, and Sister Ruth Ann Duclos; and her son-in-law, Bill Fox.
