Church
, Wahpeton at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Randy Spahr officiating.
Visitation will be on Friday at the Willow Creek Chapel (
920 Third Avenue North
) Wahpeton, ND from 5:00-8:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service.
Vertin-Munson Wahpeton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Manville Stoltenow was born on Feb. 6, 1921, to Rueben and Emma (Pasbrig) Stoltenow of rural Wahpeton.
He was baptized in the
Evangelical
United
Brethren
Church
in
Great Bend
, where his family attended. Manville grew up on a farm east of
Great Bend
and later his family moved to the city of
Great Bend
. He attended country school at
Summit
Township
#1, graduated from
Wahpeton
High School
in 1938 and then attended State School of Science where he played football.
Manville was united in marriage to Alice Joy Worner at her parent’s house in
Great Bend
,
ND
on September 24, 1944 and together they built their farm
,
“West
Edge Holstein Farm”, by
Great Bend
. They first delivered milk on a horse drawn flatbed for a nickel a quart and later delivered it to the customer’s doorstep in a Model A Ford with the rumble seat converted to hold milk racks. In the summer of 1955, Manville & Alice adopted their daughter Maxine. Manville later formed a dairy partnership with Don Leinen in 1965. Manville and Alice built a home and moved to Wahpeton in 1981.
He was a member of the Evergreen United Methodist church and served on various committees including the Great Bend School Board, Great Bend EUB and Methodist Church Boards, Farmers Mill & Elevator, City Board of Great Bend, First National Bank Board of Wahpeton, Farm Bureau, and the State and National Holstein Breeders. Manville enjoyed playing baseball, spending time at
Blanche
Lake
in the summer and traveling south in the winter. He liked playing cards, watching the MN Twins, auction sales, bowling and going for drives to check the crops. Manville also enjoyed the Chahinkapa Zoo and loved to take his grandchildren & great-granddaughters to visit the animals.

He was preceded in death by his wife
Alice
(6-28-09); sister Eleanor Fitzgerald (2002); and his parents Rueben (1960) and Emma (1964) Stoltenow.
