Madonna Christensen

Madonna M. Christensen, 90, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016, at CHI St. Francis Healthcare, Breckenridge, MN. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 7, at United Methodist Church, Fairmount, with Rev. Mark Gronseth officiating. Visitation will be 5 PM to 7 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Service, Wednesday, at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Fairmount, ND. Arrangements are entrusted with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Madonna was born April 5, 1925 the daughter of Alfred and Ruth (Haben) Fleischauer at LaMars Township, rural Fairmount, ND. She attended school at LaMars and later graduated from Fairmount High School in 1943. Following high school she worked for Northwestern Bell in Fargo ND and Pacific Bell in Tacoma WA for 9 years. On September 27, 1952 Madonna married Clarence Christensen and the couple moved to the family farm located in Devillo Township rural Fairmount ND. There they raised their son and would live until 2004 when the couple moved to Wahpeton ND.

Madonna was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and served on the social committee for many years, she also held various officer positions on the church board. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, and embroidery.

Madonna is survived by her son Cal.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Ruth, her husband Clarence, her brothers Willis and Lloyd Fleischauer, her sisters: Lula Nedeau, Annetta Walter, Marilyn Campbell, and Mildred Osborn.
