LuVern Jones

LuVern I. Jones, 88, Fargo, ND, formerly of Wyndmere, ND, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 22, at 11:00 am at Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church West Campus, West Fargo, ND with Rev. Vern Baardson officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, from 5 pm to 8 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm with Pastor David Cripe officiating at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Elk Creek Cemetery, Wyndmere, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to: Association Free Lutheran Bible School, 3110 East Medicine Lake Blvd., Plymouth, MN 55441. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

LuVern was born on November 16, 1928 in rural Mooreton, ND to Bennie and Rosie (Nelson) Berg. She grew up and attended school in Ibsen Township and graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to Delbert Jones on July 3, 1947 in Breckenridge, MN. The couple raised their children and farmed in Garborg Township for sixty years.

LuVern was active in the church as a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent for 25 years and helped share God's love with many children. She loved the Lord and her life was a great witness to others around her.

LuVern is survived by her children, Judith Ann (Ted) Hegseth, Fergus Falls, MN, Timothy Lee (Mary Ellen) Jones, Wyndmere, ND, Kathi L. (Ken) Anderson, Detroit Lakes, MN, Bev (Gerald) Twedt, McHenry, ND; her eighteen grandchildren; her 37 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Norma Salquist, Fargo, ND, Vernice DeVries, Breckenridge, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Rosie Berg, her husband, Delbert Jones, September 3, 2007, her three brothers, Clayton, Raymond, and Arvin Berg, and her two sisters, Isabelle Staples, and Delores Hendrickson.
