Lucille Holtz

Lucille was born June 5, 1924, at Beardsley, MN, the daughter of William and Kathryn (McDonald) Welch. She grew up and graduated from high school in Beardsley in 1942. She worked for Dresch's Grocery Store and married Everett Holtz on September 4, 1948 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Beardsley. The couple lived at Clinton, MN where Lucille worked for Spaulding Clothing Store. The family moved to Wahpeton, ND, in 1967. Lucille worked for Spies Super Value, Breckenridge; Stevenson's Clothing and Bon Jos Clothing, both of Wahpeton. Lucille operated a day care until her husband retired in 1986, and they travelled to Texas for the winters.

Lucille was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and served on the circles. She enjoyed gardening and camping when the children were growing up. She enjoyed talking with people and had a wonderful memory for places and events. She was a super wife and mother and loved to see her children and grandchildren, her "babies".

Lucille is survived by her husband of 63 years, Everett, Wahpeton; two daughters and a son,: Roberta "Robbie" (Mike) Carlson, Fargo, ND; Jenine (Paul) Holtz Dobie, Colorado Springs, CO; Drew (Cindy) Holtz, Springfield, MO; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Ryan (Kristi) Carlson, and children, Quinn, Will, Tommy, all of Grand Forks, ND; Heather (Derryk) Madsen, and child Carter, of Lisle, Ill; Conor Hess, Evan Hess, both of Colorado Springs, CO; Kyle Holtz and Kaylee Holtz, both of Springfield, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her three sisters: Marian Teske, Marjorie Whelan, Gladys Johnson and a brother, Donald Welch and an infant brother Raymond.
