Lois Kuruc, 77, rural Colfax, ND, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012 at her home. A Memorial Service will be Thursday, 7 PM at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton with Rev. Ken Kirchenwitz officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 4 PM until the time of service on Thursday. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Wahpeton.
Lois was born September 30, 1934 at Wyndmere, ND, the daughter of Leo and Adeline (Groen) Snyder. She was united in marriage to John Kuruc Jr. on October 7, 1950 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Mooreton, ND. They made their home and raised their six children on a farm by Colfax, ND. John passed away March 29, 1994, and Lois continued to live on the farm.
Lois was a wife and mother that enjoyed her children and adored her granddaughters and was overjoyed with her great-grandsons. She cherished the cooking they did together, the ideas they come up with and would look forward to her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's overnight stays and long special talks. When preparing a meal for others she would always make enough food for an army, and what a feast.
Lois's hobbies were sewing and painting ceramics; she would come up with her own crazy colors which would make it difficult to duplicate or touch one up. She was always willing to help out with the animals and would be the first to assist with the bottle feeding.
Lois is survived by her five sons and one daughter: Jeff Kuruc, and his special friend Marlyn, Colfax; Doug (Linda) Kuruc, their children, Julia Kuruc and her son Evan, Colfax, and Cynthia Kuruc and her son Johnny, Moorhead; Tim Kuruc, Colfax; Paula Kuruc, Wahpeton; Curtis Kuruc, and his special friend Jessie, Colfax; and Wayne Kuruc, Colfax; her sister, Leola Heyen, Bismarck, ND; two brothers, Dennis (Judy) Snyder, Chester, MT; Daryl (Ardyce) Snyder, New Rockford, ND; two sisters-in-law, Faye Snyder, Augusta, GA; Cathy Snyder, Shelby, MT; and a brother-in-law, Kenny (Cari) Jacobs, Mandan, ND;
She was preceded in death by husband, John Kuruc Jr., her parents, Adeline and Leo Snyder; two brothers Don and Duane Snyder and her sister Lamae Jacobs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Riveredge Hospice, Breckenridge, MN or Roger Maris Cancer Center, Fargo, ND.
