Lillian David, 83, Wyndmere, ND passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, March 10 at 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wyndmere, ND with Father Len Loegering as celebrant. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer vigil at 7 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Wyndmere. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Wyndmere. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.
Lillian was born September 16, 1928, near Wyndmere, ND, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Motl) Horak. She attended rural school in Homestead Township and graduated from Wyndmere High School in 1946. She attended North Dakota State School of Science in secretarial-bookkeeping and went to work for Fairmount Creamery. Lillian was united in marriage to Jerry David on June 5, 1948 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wyndmere. The couple raised livestock, chickens, turkeys and farmed in the Wyndmere area. Lillian and Jerry retired in 1988 and they enjoyed spending summers on the farm and wintering in Mesa, AZ. Jerry passed away January 4, 2004 and Lillian continued to live on the farm. She recently entered Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead.
Lillian was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and an active member of the guild, and had served as a past president. Lillian helped start the Homestead Township 4-H Club and was a member of the Homestead Township Homemakers. She and her husband enjoyed dancing and bowling; Lillian also enjoyed quilting and sewing. She liked to study her family's genealogy and her highlight was visiting Prague where she met many of her relatives.
Lillian is survived by her two sons and four daughters: Cheryl (Gene) Hausauer, Ortonville, MN; Craig David and Robert (Karen) David, all of Wyndmere; Joyce David, Fridley, MN; Teresa Altenbernd, Moorhead, MN and her fiancé Gary Miller; and June (Rick ) Peterson, Washta, IA; 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerry; a grandchild; and two sons-in-law.
