Liam Paul Kummer, born November 4, 2015, died peacefully in the arms of his parents on March 13, 2016 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. Liam is the son of Blaine and Megan Kummer of Colfax, North Dakota. He and his twin brother, Owen, are the answer to their prayers, and they waited for their birth with joyful expectation. The wait was short when Owen and Liam were born at 22 weeks and 6 days.
Liam decided that 1 pound 1.3 ounces was too small to come home, so he and Owen lived with their second family at Sanford's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Liam spent his time snuggling with his parents, listening to music, and playing with the nurses who would hear all about his day as they cared for him. Everyone who met him loved Liam; He was feisty and spirited, yet gentle and sweet. His parents will spend the rest of their lives wishing they could have watched Liam grow up, but they will forever count their blessings that they had each and every precious moment they shared with him. Liam will be greatly missed by his family and his special second family who not only cared for him, but took care of his mom and dad as well. After 130 days surrounded by people who loved him, Liam's premature insides could no longer keep up with his big strong 7-pound body.
Liam is welcomed into heaven by several Great-Grandparents; Liam will be gardening with Grandpa Elmer Bjerke, baking with Grandma Evelyn Bjerke, farming with Grandpa Ray Kummer, golfing with Grandma Betty Kummer, fishing with Grandpa Richard (Tony) Fritz, and woodworking with Grandpa Newell Hackey.
Liam will be loved and missed every single day by his parents, his brother Owen Lee, his grandparents, Paul and Vanessa Kummer (Colfax, ND), his grandparents, Leon and Mary Bjerke (Battle Lake, MN), his Aunt Rachael Kummer (Denver, CO), his Uncle Joshua (Alexandra) Bjerke (Milton, VT), his Uncle Erik Bjerke (Jacksonville, NC), and his cousin Jacob Bjerke (Milton, VT).
