Leslie Duane Ambrose, 73, Walcott, ND, passed away at the Clayco Center in Barnesville, MN, Monday, November 18, 2013, surrounded by his wife and daughters, after a brief battle with cancer.
Leslie was born in Fargo, ND, August 31, 1940, to Layton and Maude (Brown) Ambrose. He grew up on a farm outside of Barnesville, MN, where he attended school. In 1960 he married Priscilla (Tweetise) Furst and together they had five children. Leslie worked in construction and trucking, hauling gravel and grain for many years. In 1981 he married Cathy Mauch, they started Ambrose Repair where they worked together with their son, Shane.
Les had a passion for cars throughout his life; he rebuilt, repaired and raced them.
Les is survived by his wife, Cathy, son, Shane of Fargo, daughters: Stephanie, Plymouth, MN; Carmen (Barry) Pattengale, Shana (Doug) Cihak, all of Barnesville, MN; sons: Jeffrey, Moorhead, MN; Stephen, Barnesville, MN; grandsons: Lennon, Presley and Jett Cihak and Julian Ambrose and his special dog, Muffin.
Les is preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, and his special dog, "Bear".
There will be a private burial at a later date. Please send memorials to Hospice of the Red River Valley or Roger Maris Cancer Center.
