LaVonne Brown

LaVonne J. Brown, 77, Abercrombie, ND passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at her daughter's residence in Kent, MN. Funeral services will be on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Abercrombie, ND with Rev. Michael Buller officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Bethany Free Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Abercrombie, ND. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

LaVonne was born on September 10, 1937 in Rural Abercrombie, ND to Edward and Elizabeth (Odegard) Hendrickson. She grew up and attended school in the Abercrombie/Barney, ND area and graduated from Antelope Consolidated High School in 1956.

LaVonne was united in marriage to Duane Brown and to this union four children were born. The family moved around the US following Duane's job in the oil industry. In 1984, she returned to Abercrombie where she worked at various jobs in the Wahpeton/Breckenridge area including a waitress at the FM restaurant and at St. Catherine's Living Center in Wahpeton.

LaVonne was a hard working woman throughout her life and went without for the sake of others. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren and was known for asking people "How do you like me so far?" She loved to cook and bake and always made more than enough. She also enjoyed dancing, music of all genres, and any type of animals especially cats, and Berta the bird.

She will be missed by her children, Debbie Wood, Douglas, WY, Diana Braman, Kent, MN, Sherry Thomsen, Fargo, ND, Doug Brown, Abercrombie, ND; her 24 grandchildren; her 30 great grandchildren; her sister, Cheryl Peterson, Fargo, ND; her brother-in-law, Ron Holte. Thompson, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Edward Hendrickson, her granddaughter, Elizabeth Thompson, her brother, Jerry Hendrickson, her sisters, Eileen Holte and Carole Emerson.
