Laura Kummer

Laura was born March 29, 1927, at Page, ND, the daughter of John and Celesta (Bressie) Joseph. She grew up in Page where she graduated from High School. She performed housekeeping duties and was a nanny in Minneapolis and later with the Grommesh Family of Casselton. She married Clifford Pfeiff on October 5, 1949 in Page. The couple farmed at Chaffee, ND. Clifford passed away August of 1957; Laura and children moved to Valley City, ND. She married Edward N. Kummer on August 7, 1958, the couple and their children lived and farmed near Colfax. The couple traveled in the winters and were involved with RVICS (Roving Volunteers in Christa�(TM)s Service) helping to build schools and orphanages near Smithville, TX. Ed passed away July 17, 2005; Laura continued to live in their home.

Laura was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and UMW. She was active in the Colfax and Abercrombie Senior Citizens, where she was the treasurer. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, especially growing her flowers. She loved her family, and gave special attention to her grandchildren, welcoming each new arrival into their family. Her warm, gracious smile and treating all she met as a personal friend will be missed by all her knew her.

Laura is survived by nine children: Ron Pfeiff, Colfax; Steve Pfeiff, Ogden, UT; Karen (Mark) George, Broomfield, CO; Darlene (Bud) Walker, Moreno Valley, CA; Sharon (Jim) Neuerburg, Perham, MN; Rodney (Joni) Kummer, Walcott, ND; Carlotta (Ken) Larsen, Colfax; Cynthia (Ron) Axt, Baltic, OH; Keith (Loraine) Kummer, Moorhead, MN; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, her sister, Mary Brock, Helena, MT.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands: Clifford Pfeiff and Edward Kummer, her brother, Harold Joseph, a sister, Ruth McEwen and her granddaughter, Kimberly Axt.
