Kim R. Meyer, 50, Fairmount, ND passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at her residence in Fairmount. Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 9:30 AM at Harvest Outreach Church, Wahpeton, ND with Pastor Dominick Warne officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Harvest Outreach Church. There will also be visitation one half hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Hankinson, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Gift of Life Transplant House, Rochester, MN. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.
Kim was born on September 3, 1964 in Ellendale, ND to Robert and Carol (Fiechtner) Bottchen. She grew up and attended school in Hankinson, ND and graduated from Hankinson High School in 1982. She was united in marriage to Dennis Meyer November 6, 1982 and to this union two daughters were born, Tara and Tracee.
They moved to Fairmount, ND where Kim lived to the present day. She was a bookkeeper for Wahpeton Electric and then a Relief Postmaster at the Fairmount Post Office. In 1999, she went to work as a dietary aid at St. Catherine's Living Center in Wahpeton, ND. She remained in that position until she retired in 2011 due to her fight with internal scleroderma which required a double lung and heart transplant on August 13, 2012.
Kim enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, and crocheting. She loved the time she spent attending her children's sports activities, her time with her nieces and nephews, and especially the times spent with Wes Hardie camping and fishing, and finding a wild asparagus patch along the way.
Kim is survived by her daughters, Tara and Tracee Meyer, both of Wahpeton, ND; her special friend of fifteen years, Wes Hardie, Fairmount, ND; her parents, Robert and Carol Bottchen, Hankinson, ND; her brother, Kevin (Julie) Bottchen, Lidgerwood, ND and their children, Megan, Paige, and Brandon; her sister, Khonda (Gary) Eckdahl, McMinnville, OR and their children, Makenna, Brock, Joelle, and Dawson; and her beloved dog, Bella.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
