Kathleen Braun

Kathleen "Kathy" Braun, age 85, of Lisbon, ND, formerly of Wyndmere, ND, passed away on April 5, 2025, at North Dakota Veterans Home, Lisbon, ND, with her devoted husband at her side after having many family members with her the day before. Private services will be held at a later date.

Kathleen "Kathy" Mary Kelly was born on January 22, 1940, at St. John's Hospital in Fargo, ND, to parents Raymond and Antonia (Frybert) Kelly. In 1946, the Kelly family moved from Fargo to the family farm north of Wyndmere, ND. Kathy graduated from Wyndmere High School in 1957. She attended Valley State College for two years. On April 25, 1959, Kathy was united in marriage to John "Jack" Braun at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wyndmere. They were happily married for over 65 years.

Jack and Kathy lived in Honolulu, HI, Lidgerwood, ND, Hankinson, ND, Wahpeton, ND, and on a farmstead near Mooreton, ND before settling on the farmstead that Kathy grew up on north of Wyndmere, ND in the summer of 1973. They lived there until moving into the ND Veterans Home, Lisbon, ND, in 2023. Through these years, they welcomed into this world their five children. Kathy was employed by the 3M Company in Wahpeton, ND, from 1976 until her retirement in 1996. She later worked part-time for Gutzmer Salvage Store in Lidgerwood, ND for a number of years.

Kathy enjoyed reading, especially newspapers, making puzzles, traveling the countryside, and loving her grand and great-grandchildren. She was also very attached to her dogs. She will always be remembered for her generosity to her family and to others in need. After her retirement, Kathy fell in love with Medora, ND, and the musical they presented each year. She and Jack would make several trips out there. They had season tickets for a number of years. In 2001, she spent the summer working in the shops in Medora.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Jack, Lisbon, ND, four daughters, Bernadette (Jeff) Braun, Lisbon, ND, Monica (Paul) Nord, Frazee, MN, Mary (Gary) Gilbertson, Moorhead, MN, Stephannie (Eric) Thompson, Maple Grove, MN, son, John (Cara) Braun, Fargo, ND, six grandchildren, Rachelle (Kyle) Johnson, Caitlin (Casey) Bartz, Jenna (Andy) Klein, Isabella (Evan) Heitkamp, Anne Braun, James (Tiffany) Nord, Kelly Grimm, granddaughter-in-law, Kaley Nord, 12 greatgrandchildren, sister, Marilyn Turbeville Ventura, CA.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two grandsons, Dustin Gilbertson and Charles Nord.
