Judith Strand

Judith Strand, 88, Breckenridge, MN passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2015 with her family at her side at CHI St. Francis Health, Breckenridge. Funeral services will be on Monday, May 4, at 10:30 AM at Bethany Free Lutheran Church, Rural Abercrombie, ND. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND. Interment will be at Bethany Free Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Judy was born to Selmer and Alma Myhre on August 15, 1926 in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada. At the age of 12, she and her family moved to rural Abercrombie, ND. She graduated from Abercrombie High School in 1945. In 1946 Judy attended the North Dakota State School of Science. She graduated with a certificate in Social Science. In 1947 she took a 10 week Bible course at the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, MN.

Judy married Percy Strand on June 24, 1949. Together they raised their eight children on a farm outside of Abercrombie. Judy was a devoted and hardworking wife and mother. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and encouraged her family to do the same. In 1993, upon retirement, they moved to Wahpeton, ND and in 2009 she became a resident at St. Francis Home in Breckenridge, MN.

Judy is survived by her husband Percy, sons Ronald (Barbara) Strand, Abercrombie; Dennis (Deb) Strand, Grand Forks, ND; Duane (Kim) Strand, Wahpeton; Paul (Jan) Strand, Kenyon, MN; Charles (Lynell) Strand, Greenbush, MN; and daughters Elaine (Dan) Mundfrom, Richmond, KY; Jean (Bob) Rudebusch, Wahpeton; Joyce (Bryan) Folson, Grand Forks, 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, her brother, David (Ruth) Myhre, Half Moon Bay, CA; sisters-in-law, Lois Myhre, Abercrombie, and Beverly Myhre, Crete, Il.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents Selmer and Alma Myhre, brothers & sister-in-laws, Victor & Pauline Myhre, Maurice & Florence Myhre and brothers, Owen and Kenneth.
