Joyce King

Joyce was born March 13, 1941, at Graceville, MN, the daughter of Earnest and Jessie (Johnson) Cory. She grew up in the Dumont-Graceville area and moved to Wheaton, MN as a teenager. Joyce married Albert Thorson in 1959 at Clinton, MN; they had four children together.

Joyce moved to the Fairmount area where she worked at the Nash Home as a cook and for St. Francis Nursing Home in the laundry department. She married John H. King on November 13, 1984 and continued to live on the farm near Fairmount. They moved to Ottertail Lake where Joyce worked for Ottertail Nursing Home and Bahr's Melon Farm. They returned to Breckenridge when John's health deteriorated and he passed away October 30, 2000. Joyce continued to live in Breckenridge.

Joyce enjoyed gardening, especially her flower garden, and she especially treasured her time with her grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by six children: Peggy (Jim) Feist, Groton, SD; Susan (Joe) Pellman, Wahpeton; Ron Thorson, Fairmount, ND; Becky (Roger) Powell, Mellette, SD; Brenda (Jim Tate) Thorson, Wahpeton, Kevin (Kay) King, Wahpeton; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; two brothers, Jay (Janet) Cory, Breckenridge, Jack (Gloria) Cory, Wheaton, MN; and an aunt, Grace Mullenbach, Wheaton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; and a nephew, Mark Cory.
