Joan Catherine Meyer

Joan Meyer, 84, of Richville, MN passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at her home. Her Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 10:30 AM at St. John's Catholic Church in Wahpeton, ND. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM with a rosary and will continue until the time of the service.

Joan Catherine Bertelsen was born on April 9, 1940, on her aunt’s homestead north of Fairmount, ND. She grew up and attended school in Fairmount, ND. She was united in marriage to her loving husband, Lambert Meyer, and together they moved to Hankinson, ND where they raised their three children, Kristin, Russ, and Jeff.

Joan was employed at Wipperman Furniture for ten years, then went to work as a dental assistant for Dr. Howard Reinke, working at his practice for twenty years. She was a member of St. Philips Catholic Church, where she was involved in choir, teaching CCD, and Bible studies.

Joan loved spending time in the summer at their home on Ottertail Lake. Upon Lambert’s retirement in 2000, they moved to the lake full-time. For twenty-four years they enjoyed playing cards, making friends, and having fun family times. Joan spent fourteen years as a volunteer at Richville Methodist Church Clothing mission. With a true servant's heart, she loved her time at the mission and everyone enjoyed her many touching stories from her time there. Joan loved people. She loved talking and getting to know everyone. She was a good cook and always made sure everyone had more than enough to eat. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved spending time at all their many activities through the years.

Joan will be dearly missed and forever cherished.

Joan is survived by her husband, Lambert Meyer, Ottertail, MN; her children, Kristin (Phillip) Glogoza of Fargo, ND, Russ (Beth) Meyer of Fargo, ND, and Jeff (Nicki) Meyer of Clifton, CO; grandchildren, Andrew (Margo) Glogoza and their children Gabriel, Theodore, and Gwendolyn of Casselton, ND, Matthew (Audrey) Glogoza of Fishers, IN, Benjamin (Kaitlyn) Glogoza of Grand Forks, ND, Emma (Ryan) Weeks of Fargo, ND, Dillon (Jacob Haugen) Meyer of Grand Forks, ND, and Allyson (Brad) Nordick and their children Olivia and Penelope of Fargo, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents Catherine and Jens Bertelsen and her stepfather Pat Goggin.
