Jerry Jones

“Jerry” G. Jones, 42, Wahpeton, ND, died Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Meritcare Hospital , Fargo , ND . The Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, at the Harvest Outreach Church , Wahpeton, with Rev. Sam McKay officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 PM to 7 PM with a 7 PM prayer service at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery , Wahpeton. Arrangements are pending with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Jerome G. “Jerry” Jones was born September 8, 1967, at Fergus Falls , MN , the son of Bill and Sylvia Jones. Jerry lived for a short time in North Dakota before moving to Modesto , CA with his family where he lived for the next ten years. In 1979 the family moved to the Wahpeton-Breckenridge area. Jerry was diagnosed with acute non-lymphatic Leukemia at the age of 15 on January 5, 1982. With strength and courage he fought the complications of the disease for his last 27 years until December 10 ^th when Jerry passed away from congestive heart failure.

Jerry’s faith was very important to him and he was constantly living and teaching the importance of Christ in one’s life. He enjoyed drawing and music; he was currently attempting to play the guitar. He could be lighthearted and goofy, many times attempting to bring laughter to his family and friends.

Jerry is survived by his father and mother, Bill and Sylvia Jones, Wahpeton; seven brothers and sisters: Debbie Meadows, Fargo, ND; Brenna (Rob) Williams, Omaha, NE; Bill Jr. (Dawn) Jones, Howard Lake, MN; Brian (Brenda) Jones, Big Lake, MN; Angie (Corey) Williams, Lisbon, ND; Dwayne (Tracey) Jones, Annandale, MN; and Carol Jones, Wahpeton; and several nieces, nephews and great nephews and great nieces.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and his sister Tamera Jones.
