Jerome Meide
December 27, 1918 — March 14, 2011
Jerome was born December 27, 1918 at Hankinson, ND the son of Emil and Anna (Krause) Meide; the third of eleven children. He was united in marriage to Mildred Stoltenow on December 18, 1940. They had one son, Jerry. Jerome also served in the US Marines in WW II in China.
He began his career in construction with Hanson Bros. in Breckenridge, MN. He became a bricklayer and worked for different firms as a brick foreman. He started his own construction firm of Meide and Fritz in 1957, which evolved into Meide and Son Inc. in 1961. After retiring he devoted his time to being an antique dealer and also loved raising tomatoes and flowers. Mildred passed away on February 2, 2001 and he continued to reside in his home in Wahpeton until November of 2010 when he entered St. Catherine's Living Center.
Jerome is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Sandy Meide, Wahpeton; two grandchildren: Gregory (Darcy) Meide, Wahpeton and Erika "Kristie" (Mark) Meier, Baraboo, WI; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Caleb, Ethan and Seth Meide, Wahpeton and Erik (Ashley) Meier and daughter Stella and Victoria Ann Meier, Baraboo, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mildred and siblings.
