Jerome "Jim" Hickman, 76, Mooreton, North Dakota, formerly Columbus, ND, died on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at his home. A local Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 13, 2:00 PM at Wyndmere Lutheran Church, Wyndmere, ND, with visitation with the family one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at Columbus, ND. Arrangements are with the Vertin-Munson Wahpeton Funeral Home.
Jerome, known as Jim, was born October 22, 1934 at Columbus, ND, the son of Claude V. and Agnes G. (Ryen) Hickman. He grew up near Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School in 1952. He was united in marriage to Delores Tveter at First Lutheran Church, Columbus, ND. He served in the US Army for two years and returned to the area where he went to school to become a barber. The couple lived for the majority of their married life in Columbus, where he operated Barber Shops. He retired in 2004 when the couple moved to Mooreton, ND.
Jim was active in the Columbus area where he served in the AALC, was a District Governor for Lions International, was an EMT with the ambulance service and was involved with the American Heart Association. He used to enjoy hunting and camping.
Jim is survived by his wife, Delores, St. Catherinea�(TM)s Living Center, Wahpeton, ND; four sons and a daughter: Darryl (Laurie) Hickman, Minot, ND; Perry (Connie) Hickman, Chino Valley, AZ; Jeff (Cathy) Hickman, Palm Harbor, FL; Pam (David) Johnson, Minot, ND; and Tom (Jan) Hickman, Mooreton, ND; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Wallace "Jiggs" (Connie) Hickman, Fargo, ND; Delano (Lucia) Hickman, Burnsville, MN; Lowell (Laurie) Hickman, Bozeman, MT; one sister, Mary Hoffmeyer, Great Falls, MT.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Garth and Perry Hickman, and two sisters, Pauline Fagerland and Donna Nordstog.
