Janet Nadine Dotzenrod, 100, of Wyndmere, ND, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Twin Town Villa, surrounded by her family and under the care of CHI Hospice, in Breckenridge, MN. Her memorial service will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 20, 2024, with visitation one hour prior to the service, at Evergreen United Methodist Church in Wahpeton. Rev. Kori Lehrkamp will officiate the service. Burial will be in Elk Creek Cemetery in Wyndmere, ND. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton.
Janet was born on May 18, 1923, at her Grandma Johnson’s home in Bismarck, ND, to Stephen and Agnes (Johnson) Little. She attended a one-room elementary school and two years of high school in Regan, ND. In 1939, the family moved to a farm near Wyndmere, ND, where she graduated high school in 1941. Janet graduated from a two-year secretarial course at NDSSS, and began working at the National Farm Loan Assn’ in Wahpeton, ND and Lidgerwood, ND.
On March 16, 1946, she was united in marriage to Rudolph A. Dotzenrod, the couple made their home in Wyndmere. She did parttime work at Dotzenrod Implement, taught Sunday School, and was secretary of the UMW for many years. Janet was a Cub Scout leader while her sons were in the Scouts. Rudy and Janet enjoyed traveling to most every state and into Canada. They did volunteer work in a short-term mission in Farmington, NM, with the UMC Nomad Group. Janet served as a volunteer at the Bagg Bonanza Farm for 10 years as a tour guide. She lost her life-long sweetheart, Rudy, on February 21, 2009. Janet moved to Twin Town Villa in 2013 and resided there until her death.
Janet is survived by her children, Paul (Marlys), Clitherall, MN, Joel (Sharon), Battle Lake, MN, and Laurie (Scott) Bradley, Lodi, CA; her grandchildren, Chad, Kevin (Julie), Emily (Jason) Mertes, Lisa (Phil) Segner, Abigail (Ryan) Nastase, Jill (Will) Lane, Ryan (Alison), Julie (Andy Rau) Carlson, Ashley (Wade) Gerner, Justin (Jacinta) Langseth, Kari (Ryan) Ayers, Nathan (Vicki) Mark and Allison (Derek Cockrell) Bradley; 33 great-grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy; daughter, Betty; parents, Stephen and Agnes; brother, Forrest; sisters, Dorothy Trygg and DeElda Vosberg; father and mother-in-law, Rudy and Ellen Dotzenrod; and all her brothers and sisters-in-law.
Memorials may be given to Evergreen United Methodist Church, CHI Hospice, or Bagg Bonanza Farm.
