Jamie Hendrickson

Jamie Hendrickson, 39, of Wahpeton, ND, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.  Visitation will continue on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by her funeral service at 11:00 AM at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton.  Rev. Erika Buller will officiate the service.  Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Jamie Ann Winkels was born on January 18, 1980 in Breckenridge, MN, to David and Janice (Normann) Winkels.  She grew up in Wahpeton where she attended Wahpeton High School, graduating with the class of 1999.  Jamie married Ryan Hendrickson on June 5, 2004 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton.  The couple made their home in Wahpeton, where they both worked at Red River Human Services and raised their two children, Ellistin (10) and Linkin (8).

Jamie lived her life to the fullest and didn’t let anything get her down.  She was an amazing wife, mother, and friend.  She was laid back, content, and would put anybody else’s needs before her own.  She loved her two dogs, camping, and spending time at the lake where she played countless games of Gin Rummy with her Dad.  Jamie was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers and watching criminal shows, always saying that if she could do it all over again, she would want to be a forensic scientist.  Jamie and Ryan also enjoyed throwing darts competitively for over 16 years. Jamie thoroughly enjoyed her travels to Mexico in the past years; and as recent as the last week in January.

Jamie is survived by her husband, Ryan Hendrickson and their children, Ellistin and Linkin, all of Wahpeton; her sister, Tija (Jeremy) Erickson, and their children, Brian and Kyle, Fargo, ND; her parents, Dave and Janice Winkels, Wahpeton; and countless aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Hazelle Winkels, and her maternal grandparents, Arnold and Helen “Mitzi” Normann.
